Drowning in Sorrows - Part 2

After the awards, I met up with some of my fans (thank you all for screaming your heads off), one of them came up to me in private and said "I hate Dai Yang Tian", I'm assuming for "snatching" the Best Newcomer Award from me. At that instance the statement just felt wrong and I brushed it off by replying that she shouldn't be talking this way.

But somehow, her statement got stuck in my head.

Should I be angry? jealous? should I feel small or even worthless... after all, I have been beaten flat at my first Star Awards.

Maybe I should, but all I felt was excitement.

Remember when you thought you were good at something, then someone came and beat you by a mile? First you feel like shit, you realise you are rubbish and you want to quit...

Well, I have experienced enough failures and met enough talented people to skip all that part and get straight to realising that I now have a challenge. Something to overcome, something to prove. It makes me want to work harder, to re-read and study my old scripts again, to work out 6 days a week and to put my heart and soul into honing my craft because now I have to prove my worth.

Yang Yang has been my friend, even before The Little Nyonya's production started, and from the time we have spent together, I realised that he has values that I hold close to myself as well. He is driven, passionate and grounded, and I think he has shown us that side of him when he said "I hope you all will keep your eyes on me, because I will definitely become better" after receiving the award. So don't hate him, thank him for bringing life into our Media and waking everyone else up.

阳阳,
赛跑不要只往前面冲, 回头看, 我可能就要追上了... 我们一起加油吧!

As long as you are in this industry will always support you no matter how old you are :)

If you think you can! You can!

seriously you should win, that's many people believe.
The Master (mediacorp) decided the winner..
I believe this FT (Dyt)'s interest is not in Sg, China is the bigger market he's eyeing.
Do Mediacorp has to give him more awards to keep him here?

To the anonymous on 28 Apr, 7.30pm:

Whether it was cos Mediacorp wanna keep DYT in Spore , that was why he rec Sun's NC award is not the crux of the matter & it's mere speculation. One thing for sure, DYT has been working very hard. If u were to look at him on Sun's SA, he could hardly keep his eyes opened. Fatigue was written all over his face.

To Andie,

We r happy to see the drive in the young actors in Mediacorp. For the past 5 yrs, there had been a lack of spark in the industry. As such, I hardly watched S dramas & just continued to watch my K & HK dramas. Not only adults think this way, I once asked a teenager if she could remember a certain S drama, then she said, 'hey, do u realise something, after watching all S dramas, u get all of them mixed up...none remains indelible in your mind, be it story or the actors or actresses'. Omg, this came from a 15-yr old gal...& I can't agree more with her. Good S dramas were few & far in between for the past 5 yrs.

Andie, u caught my eyes during Star Search 07. I also like the scene where u confronted Robert Zhang in TLN in the last few episodes. You did very well!

DYT cannot star in every drama, so Andie, u have loads of chance to flaunt your acting skill. Though DYT has improved a lot in TOG, he still has his weaknesses. Whatever it is, remember not only to study your scripts properly, add 小动作to your character which u need to portray. Ensure every character u portray in every show must be different. Chen Han Wei/Xie Shao Guang/ Huang Bi Ren are/were all very gd in this. Tay Peng Hui & Terence Cao, unfortunately look the same in every drama. Even if u r not the main star in limelight in a particular scene, be mindful of your 'actions' or 'facial expressions' as long as the camera is shooting in your direction. For eg, TOG ep 9 <1st half>, look at DYT's actions behind Guo Liang's back in the table tennis hall.

Believe that u can, u will! I have confidence in u, Andie! 加油!

I personally believe that you should've been the winner. But I guess Mediacorp just wants to market DYT. I noticed that they kept featuring him way before the Star Awards. The last time I checked, his performance in "Table of Glory" was just passable. Andie, I like your attitude. I hope you continue to strive and prove to Mediacorp that you're the better actor!
